I AM BACK HOME

These are a couple of the pictures I took of the scenery on the first day of our trip. I am trying to download more, but the internet is not co operating. We arrived in Calgary and then went to Banff to spend our first night. I bought my camera the day before we left, and put the date (wrong) on. I didn't know it was going to come up on every picture. It isn't the right date either.

The views were just great. This was only the beginning. I am now using my desktop computer, which I do not like using. I consider it George's computer. My laptop had to be returned because it kept shutting down while I was typing. I think I cannot win. Bear with me and I will attempt to add more pictures as the days go by.

LEAVING TOMORROW

I had to download these pictures from Google, and I couldn't make them bigger. Hope you get the idea. Tomorrow at 3am, our bus leaves for Cleveland. We are flying to Canada for a trip. It is called Canadian Rockies by Rail.

We will be on the train three of the seven days. We will fly back to Cleveland on the next Friday and arrive in the evening. The trains are The Rocky and the Whistler Mountaineer. Hope it is all I expect it to be.

AN AUCTION IS GOING ON

My Granddaughter, Kristen, is holding an auction on her blog. www.christiancrafter.blogspot.com She made this baby afghan for an auction at her church and didn't get it in ontime. She wants to sell it on her blog and give the proceeds to her church.

INDIAN ON THE WARPATH

As you can see, my warrior does have a little more finished since you last saw it, but he is not happy with me. I have him sitting here beside my chair feeling so neglected. Poor guy.

On a happy note, I finished this poncho and I have another one almost finished. Sorry about the lopsided photo. I also read the Nora Roberts book, and I am starting the J.D. Robb. Hope your weekend is going well.

KNIT OR READ, HUMMMMMM

This is another small poncho. You can maybe see the size by the footstool it is on. It is about a size 3 I would guess. It has smiley buttons. I have one ready to put fringe on now and another one half done. Tonight will be a fringe night I think. I like to totally finish them, but I started the one half done while on the bus trip. I want to keep knitting these so I will have plenty to sell at the craft show in October.

Now, my problem is, I love to read. I just finished a Debbie Macomber book that a friend lent to me. It was the Manning Brides. Now, I just bought this JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) and can't wait to get it started. I love all of her books. JD Robb books go in order, if you ever think you might try them. The characters are great.

Of course, I couldn't leave this one in the store. It is a Nora Roberts. It makes me mad though. It is a larger paperback, so, more money too. I just started it today.

OUR LATEST TRIP

We started our trip on Friday in Marietta, Ohio and boarded the Valley Gem for a short ride on the river. We had a box lunch from Panerra so it was really good. From there, we got back on the coach for a ride to Elkins, W.Va. In Elkins, we saw a really good show. It is a very large family affair, and I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much, but boy was it good. It was at the American Mountain Theater. I bought a Gospel CD and all the music was written by one of the ladies in the group. They were are really good talents.

The next morning, we boarded this train and had a ride through the countryside of a small part of West Virginia. The coach was waiting on our return and we then went to Lewisburg, W. Va.

This is the Greenbriar Estate. We had lunch in this beautiful building and a little tour. It is a hotel, but, I think you would need a very large checkbook to stay there. It is super fancy. They have lots of shops and we heard one half pound of candy was $30.00. See what I mean???? Then we went under the hotel.

This is the entrance to the Bunker we toured. You would have to see this to believe it. It was built in Eisenhowers time. It was designed to house most of our Government in the event of an attack. A reporter got wind of it and it became public. It is a long story, too long to tell on this blog. It was a city in itself underground, and no one ever knew the full funtion of it. People who worked there didn't know what the others were doing. It is amazing. It is now only used for tours. The brochure calls it Project Greek Island, The Bunker.

MORE CRAFTS

I am getting used to this new laptop, I installed my fine pix and now the actual pictures do not show, only numbers so, I got these in all the wrong order. These are two hats I chrocheted for the craft show in October. I had Kristy do the roses for me when I was in New York. I know the basics of chrochet, so she just whipped them out for me. The hats will fit a child.

This poncho is for a little one about 2 years old. It is hard to know the sizes. I need to start doing comparison pictures I think. The buttons are smiley faces. I have a smaller yellow and white almost done. It needs the fringe and buttons.

This is the book of hats I bought and took the hat patterns from. I intend to make more too.

This is a book I bought and am about half finished with. It is an author I have never read, and it is very good.

This varigated yarn in this poncho is called crayon and my son, Eric, loves this yarn. This poncho is about a size 12 I think. I made two and used different plain yarn and they look all together different.

This one is probably about a size 10 year old. See how different the plain colors make the varigated yarn look. It is fun to see these ponchos develope. So far, I am not tired of knitting them. I think I now have about 10 made, not sure.
