OUR TRIP TO WASHINGTON DC

This is from one of the sites we visited, the Franklin Roosevelt memorial. this is Franklin and his dog. The cape was worn to cover the wheelchair.
These statues represent the bread line.
This is Elenore
This is the changing of the guard at Arlington. I had to hold the camera up over heads and hope I got a picture.
This was my favorite statue. Iwo Jima. It is really impressive and very large.
They had this picture hanging in the American building at the Smithsonian and
it brings back memories. In about my eighth grade, we wore dog tags over our very thick topped bobby socks. Why??? who knows, but we did.

I love the Roosevelt Memorial and cannot believe that I have never seen it. Eleanor is one of the first ladies biographies I have to order soon. Arlington is a beautiful place and I still wish we had buried Dad there. It leaves such an impression.

Love and hugs ~

Glad you're save home again. It seems you had nice time in Washington. And sunshine by the look of your pictures!
Love the socks! I have always thought that fashion can be crazy. This looks silly now, but I bet I would have worn the dog-collar to. I saw in a magazine that this summer it will be 'hot' to wear boots (warm) with (cold) open toos (tenen in Dutch). That seems crazy to me!

Looks so fun and that you got to see lots of great sites. I can't wait to take the kids in a few years! You sure do get around Aunt Nancy!

I've never seen the dog tags over bobby socks. Interesting. Kaje' has been studying the presidents for her AP test and I'll have to show her the statues. She'll get a kick out of this.

I love DC! It's one of the examples why the US is so much better than other countries (not to put down other countires, but the US beats them hands down easily!)
