Red Christmas Mittens

Night before last my sister called me to ask if I would knit her red mittens for Christmas.
Several years ago I made her grey ones and she still wears them and says they are wearing out.
She has arthritis and gloves bother her fingers.
She and I are the only ones left in our immediate family.
When my Grandaughters were small, they used to sing "We are famblie, I got my sister and me"
They were too small to sing the words right and we never forgot it. Heidi and I talk about it a lot. So now, I have my sister and me. Here are your mittens Ruthie. Hope they keep you warm.

Aunt Nancy,
I can't believe you got these done already! Mom will be so excited! She has told me more than once that she asked you to knit her some new red mittens. What a good sister you are! Thanks!
Shari
P.S. Hi Kristy, Mandie and Heidi! Amy introduced me to blog world. Now I'm having fun keeping up with all of you via your blogs! You are all amazing!

You really finished these quickly but then they are for our Ruthie Boothie! I am so glad you still have Ruthie and I remember one afternoon you and I visited her when I was home. I sat looking at the two of you and thinking I so wished my sister and I could have been able to grow old together. It must be a special feeling to watch each other go through all those things that life brings in each other's life! I will always miss that I can have that with Fawn but I really do keep her and her laughter in my heart!

Enjoy giving these sweet mittens to Ruthie and give her a big hug from me!

I love you mother! (Sorry if I made you shed a tear while reading this but then I am as I write it.)

Love and hugs ~
Heidi

When I saw the picture of those mittens the first thing I thought of was the pilot episode of Little house on the Prairie. Red mittens were a treasured gift for the two girls as I'm sure that these will be.

No matter how much "stuff" we have, something to keep our hands warm is essential.

Goodness, Nancy,
You really are amazing. Mind you, a gift for a favourite person gives our fingers wings to fly :>)
It's years since I knitted but seeing something as inspiring as this makes me want to dig my knitting needles out again :>) I can tell you and Ruthie have a very special relationship.
Warm hugs, Angela
