Receipes

I told Angela I would put the poundcake receipe on the blog. Here it is. It is Fawn's receipe and we all love it, especially Mandie.

Fawn's Poundcake

1/2 cup margarine or butter ggs
1/2 cup shortening (crisco)
1 tsp lemon extract
6 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups of sugar
1 cup of milk
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt

Bake in two loaf pans at 325 degrees for 1 hour 30 minutes

Fawn's Apple Crumb Pie

4 large tart apples 1 receipe of plain pastry (1 crust pie)
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

For the topping:
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
Pare the apples and cut into eighths. Put apples into a 9 inch pastry lined piepan. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle over the apples.

Prepare the sugar, flour and butter in another dish (I use a pastry cutter to mix)
It should be crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples and bake in a hot oven 375 degrees
for 40 to 50 minutes. Check apples with tooth pick to see if they are soft.

Nancy,
What a fabulous looking cake. It looks so moist and light. I can't wait to try it out. Even the name 'pound' sounds so wholesome, somehow ...haha! Thanks so much for the recipe. The apple pie looks so tempting too. I'm so glad you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Hugs Angela :>)

Glad all your family members arrived home safely - my thoughts are with Mandie's dh going off to the war zone, may he stay safe.

Know you missed having Heidi there for Thanksgiving - at least she's keeping busy getting all that fabulous decorating done. I must catch up...........she's beating us all!!

Now if I'd seen your pies earlier I might have headed in your direction Nancy - bet they were yummy!!
