A GIFT FROM MY SISTER, RUTH

My sister gave me a subscription to this magazine and I mentioned it yesterday when I posted my award from Robin. Heidi said I now have to show the book since she has never seen it. It is pictures from the 30's, 40's and 50's.

Ok, Heidi, I bet you remember the top doll, Poor Pitiful Pearl. Heidi always chose dolls that had the oddest looks. Did you have this one, I can't remember.
Ok, I had to show this one. When I was in High School I worked in SS Kresge's in Canton, Ohio.
I met my husband Bill there. He was in manager training. We were not allowed to date fellow employees, guess that idea didn't work well. LOL.
The man who painted this said he did it from memory of his childhood. It is Marietta, Ohio. He started painting it in ninth grade.

This does look like a neat magazine for you. Great job Ruthie Boothie! What a fun present that lasts all year long. Thank God for SS Kresge's cause we are all (me, my bubs, my nieces...) here as a result of you working there and Dad following the candy counter girl around. :)

Love and hugs ~

What a brilliant magazine. You will have to bring an issue with you when we meet. This is my era and I love to read about it. I love those dolls. Now I wonder why Heidi went for odd looking dolls, perhaps she thought no one else would choose them and they would be left unwanted and unloved :>)

Neat book and how cool that there is a picture of the town you grew up in. LOL about Heidi picking the ugly dolls.

What a neat magazine! I'm glad to see you're enjoying your gift just as I'm sure Ruthie Boothie is enjoying her red mittens! Love you!!!!!

So what you're saying is that sometimes breaking the rules is a good thing. :)

That is a wonderful magazine, thanks for sharing this wonderful gift.

So glad that going against company policy while working in Kresge's brought you and Bill together - such a romantic story.

When do you go to Holland? Know you and Heidi will have so much fun.

I love that magazine, Nancy! My DH could remember lots of those things and he would shake his head when I would get all excited by something "old." I told him that's why I picked him, I like "old" things. We had a subscription for a few years and I still have those magazine as I just can't seem to part with them. Have fun with them!
