SETTING UP MY SEWING ROOM

Yesterday, Bill, George and I went to Pittsburgh to Ikea. In Holland and Sweden, I was able to go to both, the store is called E Kay Ah. The Americans pronounce it I key ah. Either way, it is a fun store to visit. It is set up exactly the same here as in Europe.
I bought these two tables for my sewing room. They call them work stations. You can buy any top you choose, then pick the legs you like. Not easy, they are all neat. I was going to choose saw horse legs but they only sit under the table and cut out some of the leg space. Bill helped me today, and we decided to make the two tables L shape and it is now my scrapbooking station.

This is actually a computer desk and today Bill took the hutch top off because I have sloped ceilings and this works out so much better. You can see the flag Heidi made me hanging behind the desk.
The lamp is the one I bought from Jacomina in Holland.

This is my sewing station. This is also an IKEA desk but bought a couple years ago.
The pictures in the back are two Bill painted.

This is an antique sewing machine I bought a few years ago. My friend bought one and needed us to pick it up for her in George's truck. Wellllllll, of course I had to buy the second one. My General store and bakery items are sitting on the top. Bill and I are happy it is finished, we are tired.

Well you are just so organized now that there will be many things coming out of that craft room! Now you can maybe even learn to quilt. :) It all looks really great. Did you have Swedish meatballs for lunch?

Love and hugs ~

Your room looks great! My mom has sewing machine and cabinet just like that one! I need to find an IKEA, sounds like a really cool place to shop.

So fun Aunt Nancy! Love the organization! I hope to have it all in one room some day as well. I have dreams of wrapping paper & gift ribbon hung in a row on the wall, w/my sewing desk in one corner and scrap center in the other. We've been thinking about taking a trip to Ikea as well! We are thinking of the same type of table with saw horse legs for a playroom table. Enjoy your new space!

Your sewing room looks wonderful and so organized. I see that you are not the only one in your family that is talented. I didn't know that Bill is an artist - how wonderful! And - the flag that Heidi created is beautiful. Your family has been blessed with talent. This has been a busy week. Tomorrow I have to go to Harrisburg for a meeting.
Love,
Sweetie

You are really getting your work spaces organized Nancy. I like IKEA for many things including kitchen storage items - they always have great things like that and their prices are very reasonable.

Love that Singer - does it work still? I learned to sew on one similar - then Mother bought a new electric one which never stitched as well as the old treadle!

Thanks so much for the beautiful card received yesterday.

You have so many treasures in your sewing room, the pictures Bill painted, you flag Heidi made, and the lamp you bought in Holland (hope I remembered the country right)! I've looked at these work tables and I'm glad to see them in a real working situation. I like the L-shape. I have to admit though that I'm drooling over that antique sewing machine. My grandma had one like it and she left it to my older sister when she passed away. I was only nine so I'm not jealous but I would like to find one some day, don't know where I'd put it but I'd like one, LOL! You've done a great job at organizing. My sewing room is the one area of the house that's ALL MINE and it stays organized the way I like it bz no one uses it. I also noticed your sloped ceilings in one picture and you did a smart thing removing the hutch on the computer desk! What a great place to create. Do you have a chair in there to do your knitting too? Just curious. I do my cross-stitching in front of the TV but it's been a long time since I've been able to do it.n Sorry this is so long but I just got a book on organizing the perfect sewing room today so it was really fun to have you post yours today!

Nancy,
The photos of your room are really lovely. It's always nice to see where someone sits and works, now we can all picture you there. Everything looks so well organized. I love your old sewing table with the bakery on top. I can feel the lovely relaxed atmosphere from here.
Warm hugs, Angela

I'm sure it's a lot of fun to work in that room.
We also go to IKEA when we need new shelves or a new desk or whatever for our studies. Fortunately we don't have to drive very far.

I love your sewing room. Even though all the new things are perfect, I love the old treadle sewing machine because it looks just like one my grandmother used to have ~ where she taught me how to sew :)

I love Ikea and they finally opened one here just last week. I figure I'll wait another week and maybe the crowds won't be too bad.

Whatever would we do without Ikea?
There is one about an hour from here and I love to go there.
