About Angela

A couple days ago, I tagged Angela. She does not have a blog, so I asked
her to post her interesting facts on mine. I know she is working on it, so
I want it not to get lost in old comments. This entry is for you Angela.
I am looking forward to your entry.

Nancy, hi,
I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your tagging. I have to say, I did struggle to find 7 interesting things about myself...haha!I really enjoyed spending time thinking about this as several deeply buried and very pleasant memories came to my mind :>)
1. I was named after my grandmother who was called Angeliki. This is actually my name :>) It's Greek tradition for parents to name their children after their own parents. It's usually done in strict rotation - husband's father first, then wife's father then their mothers but, coincidentally, I was born on my grandmother's birthday so was named after her.
2. When I was about 16, I was in a bookshop and a book slipped off a shelf and hit me on the shoulder. It was called Teach Yourself Yoga. I thought it looked fascinating and bought it. Well, I did teach myself yoga and it really changed my life. In Cyprus I taught it for 15 years an, even now, I still occasionally stand on my head..haha!
3. I've always loved the sound of saxophone music and, every year,I would make a New Year's resolution to learn to play. Well, in 1999, I finally did it and had saxophone lessons every week until we left Cyprus in 2005.I love playing, especially carols at Christmas.
4. I don't know whether to admit to this but I have to fight the urge to count everything I do. I've always been interested in the number 7 I tend to buy things in 7's and often end up with 7 carrots, 7 apples, and so on. I try to stop myself when I can but, here I am again - writing 7 facts about myself...haha! Oh, I also find myself sneezing in 7's. My dad used to do this too!!
5. When I was at school and college, I used to write a lot of poetry. One year, I saw an advertisenment where you could have a poem published in a book, for a small fee. You were then given 10 copies of the book. Well, I duly wrote a poem, had it published and proudly gave the books to friends and family. Many years later, when we were moving all our things out of my parents house, I came across it. Oh my goodness, the poem was absolutely dreadful. I live in dread of ever meeting the people I gave the book to...haha!
6. I have over 50 first cousins on my father's side of the family. He was one of ten and 7 of his siblings had either 6 or 7 children each. My father had the least having only 2 and my aunt Loulla and Aunt Zoe had only 3 each. My father was desperate for a son and was the only one who did not have a son.One of his brothers had 7 sons and no daughters!!
7. One of my great loves is second hand bookshops. I could spend all day looking through old books, just caressing the fragile pages, smelling the books and looking at illustrations covered by delicate etched tracing paper. One of my fondest memories is of when I was about 12 years of age. I used to suffer dreadfully and frequently from tonsilitis. On one occasion, I was very ill and it was my birthday. I was off school and lying in bed feeling very sorry for myself. I heard my sister and her best friend come home from school and heard their footsteps bounding up the staircase. They tumbled into the bedroom carrying a huge box. It seems they had stopped at the second hand bookshop by the bustop on the way home from school and just gone in and filled it with poetry and art books. There must have been over 20 books. I don't know where they have gone to but I do still have a beautiful very old book of Indian love poems :>)
Well, I hope I haven't rambled on too long Nancy, although I'm sure I have.
Thanks so much for tagging me :>)
Hugs, Angela

It is wonderful learning more about you. When I was in Grade School, your Primary school, I
wanted a sax. My Dad sold his gun to get one for me, and then I thought it was too heavy to carry to school for the lessons. We walked to school. I never did learn to read music either. Oh well.
Now, I want you to know, I found you to be a very interesting person.
Thank you for posting.
Nancy
